Elyria Memorial Hospital
EMH Regional Medical Center (also Elyria Memorial Hospital) was founded on October 30,1908 in response to a trolley crash in Elyria. Many people died in that crash because there was no hospital nearby for medical aid for the 100 victims. Edgar Allen had a son who died in that accident and started to raise 100,000 dollars to build a hospital. The original building still stands today, but with new construction and renovations made to the campus. The hospital has ranked in the top 100 hospitals in the US since its opening. It is located at 630 East River Street, Elyria,OH 44035.
