Loomis Camera
This famous camera store is well known throughout Elyria. Located downtown just off Ely Square, you can't miss the over sized SLR camera storefront. It was originally a press camera, then a Kodak Instamatic cube camera that flashed in the 1970's and finally the SLR! It was started in the late 1800s by R. Ford Loomis and originally called "Cheapside" carrying office supplies, greeting cards and stationary and located on Middle Avenue. In 1944 it was sold to Ed Prentke who added photographic equipment. In 1950 it was sold again and moved to its current location on Broad Street in 1957. This landmark is quite memorable in this city and is located at 413 Broad Street,Elyria,OH 44035.
